Logan Football 2024; New league and new OC

2024 will be a dynamic year for Logan as they transition to the OCC Buckeye and bring in a new OC for the Chiefs.
Brandon Payne has been hired as the new OC at Logan to run the offense. Logan will face a daunting schedule again in 2024 and will need to be better on offense as it faces some difficult challenges week in and week out.

8/23 vs Jackson
8/30 at Nelsonville-York
9/6 vs Warren
9/13 vs Pick Central
9/20 at Newark
9/27 at Reynoldsburg
10/4 vs Lancaster
10/11 at Canal Winchester
10/18 at Groveport
10/25 vs Teays Valley

Good to see Logan finally getting to join the OCC. Tough competition, but at least the Chieftains will have the security of not having to build a schedule every year. I checked the enrollments and noticed that Logan will be the smallest school in the Buckeye. Still big enough to be competitive though.

Logan’s numbers have fallen alot over the last 5 years.

Tough schedule

Gonna run the Wing T again ? Or does the new OC have freedom to run his own O ?

The state of the program is in shambles.

Good luck. Newark is a great place to catch a game, minus the older lights.

Good luck to Coach Eddy!

Going to be a nightmare for Logan.

I haven’t been on the FB side of SEOPs for awhile, thought I’d pop over here, see what the “forecast” is for the upcoming 2024 version of the Purple & White … I can’t remember when a thread for Logan Football was buried on the first page, almost onto the 2nd page! 6 weeks away from the opening game at Chieftain Stadium vs former SEOAL foe Jackson High School - not even a thread for THIS game …

Curious about this as well. The Wing-T is an offense that takes time to learn and really settle into as a program. I hope for that sake they stay with it and keep working on rebuilding the program. But I do wonder when they feel it’s time for a reset.

Unfortunately, Logan has slide into obscurity. A 5-5 season is a good season these days. Its a real shame.

July speculation post

Logan would return 18 Seniors
Sophomore Carson Tootle (6-4 195) would be the heir apparent at QB for Logan. Has been to many camps this summer to improve
3 year letter winner Kaden Morgan (5-7 160 SR0 would be the top RB back for Logan with Chris Gompf (5-11 200 SR)
Senior Jack Walsh (6-1 190) returns at WR/DB
Chiefs could have all 5 starters back on the OL

Again, total speculation until mandatory practices start.

Two points - yes, IF the players listed come out , Logan will return experience. The problem is they are not very good, even with their experience. Lack of ability will show even with another year of experience.

Second, the schedule is exponentially more difficult than the past. Success will be difficult to achieve as the competition will be far greater than the program has played over the years.

Sooner or later the program will need a new coach with better ideas and strategies, who can attract better players to come out and improve the competitive level. The program is In shambles under the current regime . The decision makers own this train wreck. Deal with it.

All players listed are in fact back out for the team.

Chiefs go 2-8, maybe 3-7 if they are lucky.

Don’t see 3 or even 2 wins. If they lose to NY looking at 0 wins

Why “if” they lose to NY? Ny was 8-4 last year. Two of those losses were by a touchdown. Ny returns majority of their roster with only losing one key player (not dismissing any seniors, but one was known to be a key playmaker). That being said, I wouldn’t base Logan’s possible record outcome on NY…

2023 Records
Jackson 10-2 -Playoffs (Defeated Logan 22-0)
NY 8-4 - Playoffs
Warren 4-6 (Logan won 20-14)
Pick Central 8-4 -Playoffs
Newark 2-9
Reynoldsburg 1-10
Lancaster 5-6 -Playoffs
Canal Winchester 11-2 -Deep playoff run
Groveport 6-5- Playoffs
Teays Valley 4-6 (Defeated Logan 28-6)

Yeah, it could be a one-win season, OR the chieftains could surprise some people. I want to see the live scrimmages and see if the new OC will have the freedom to call a creative offense.

How did Logan do at the Warren 7 on 7 this weekend?
